The BWF Program is for victims of domestic violence. You can be referred by a case manager, police department, church, counselor, or any other agency.
At your initial interview you will be required to fill out an application. These are mandatory documents to be attached to your application.
- Driver’s license or picture ID
- Copy of your lease, or a letter signed by the apartment complex or landlord, the amount of rent being charged, and list of all occupants.
- Documentation of all benefits; Food Stamps, TANF, Child Support, SSI, etc.
- Last paycheck stub
- A referral letter from police department, counselor or other service agency, if applicable.
- If you are in another program,, you will not be eligible for services at BWF until you have completed the other program. You will need to provide a letter from the other program stating that you have completed their program.
- Police report or police report number and a completed “My Story” form.
Program Participation Guidelines
- You must protect the confidentiality of all other clients by not discussing other clients with anyone. Breaking confidentiality will result in immediate exit from the program.
- You must apply for all services in person.
- To receive financial assistance, you must attend two events each month: the Day to Shine event, counseling, or Educational Classes. You must be in counseling when you start our program. Your counselor will determine when you are no longer required to attend counseling.
- Contact with our staff should be during normal business hours at the agency phone number. Please do not call volunteers or staff on their home or cell phones.
- All financial assistance will be paid directly to the college, landlord, or utility company.
- To qualify for free school supplies, the Christmas is for Children Angel Program, or other BWF sponsored programs where you receive free gifts and services, you must register in advance and be an active client.
- Abuse of any kind, intimidation, and profanity toward other clients, volunteers or staff is not allowed. Any client who is abusive to staff, another client, or a volunteer will be exited from the facility and/or from the program.
- DO NOT ask to borrow money or anything else from BWF staff, church staff, or volunteers.
- All clients are subject to drug testing. A positive test will result in exit from the program.
- If you return to the abuser or if you move in with any male you will be exited from the program.
- You may only have court ordered contact with the abuser. He cannot know where you live.
Facility Guidelines:
- Food Bank hours are Monday – Friday. You may get food once every other week and you must meet the Food Bank financial criteria.
- No husbands, boyfriends, or male sons over 17 may attend any BWF events, facilities, or classes. Bringing a male will result in immediate exit. NO EXCEPTIONS!
- ALL EVENTS AND OUR FACILITIES ARE NON-SMOKING…you must leave the parking lot to smoke.
Day To Shine Rules and Guidelines:
- You must arrive at Day to Shine Event by 11 am to qualify for services.
- For your own safety, please do not sit in cars or walk around the parking lot.
- BWF staff or volunteers cannot drive you to or from events.
- If you have an emergency please contact BWF staff.
- You must register your own children at BWF events. Mothers are the only persons who may pick up their children.
- If you or your children become ill or have a fever you will be asked to leave. We will be happy to call 911 for you.
